저자소개

에이미 추아

중국계 미국인 2세. 1987년 하버드대학교에서 국제법으로 박사학위를 받았다. 듀크, 스탠퍼드, 뉴욕대학교을 거쳐 현재 예일대학교 법학 교수로 있다. 1990년 초반에 멕시코의 시장민영화를 컨설팅했고, 1998년 아시아 경제위기 동안 세계은행에서 일했다. 국제 경영과 인종 갈등, 국제관계 분야의 세계적인 전문가이며, 정계와 재계 그리고 학술계를 대상으로 활발한 강연을 펼치고 있다. 2003년에 출간한 《불타는 세계》는 <이코노미스트>가 선정한 ‘2003년 올해의 책’이 되었으며, 뉴욕타임스는 “시장과 민주주의의 확산이 세계 평화와 번영에 필수적이라는 오늘날의 교의에 가장 극적인 반론”을 펼친 책으로 호평을 했다.《제국의 미래》는 제국의 역사를 통해 오늘날의 제국인 미국의 일방적인 패권과 오만한 정책을 비판하고 미래의 제국을 예견한 책으로, 출간과 동시에 미국에서 큰 반향을 일으킨 문제작이다
